Looking back at the ten years since I graduated, I can give a mature critique on my alma mater. In terms of academics, the staff were well prepared to teach their courses with the exception of a Business Law course in my senior year where the teacher was not disciplined enough to expound on the subject matter. Comraderie was good with many people desiring to get a good education and loving the Lord. Caution is advised for people who are of the Reformed (calvinsitic) faith that I hold. Attendance at the college's Campus Church is required for all students with few exceptions. The preaching is premilleninal, arminian and baptistic. Church government is not structured correctly, but that is for another discussion. The rules regarding early lights out gives a decided disadvantage to students under 21 years of age. I took advantage of my older age while in school and completed my studies late after the rest went to bed. I feel that this helped me significantly. The rule makes no sense. Being of the Reformed faith, I cannot recommend this school to fellow Reformed and Prsebyterians. |
