If your goal is to become a CPA do not go to PCC. There are people that do sit for the CPA exam, but the hassle that you put up with is not worth it. In many states, you can’t take the CPA exam unless your degree is accredited. Also, with 150-hour rule, most students need to go on to graduate school before they take the CPA exam. Although you can get into many graduate schools with a PCC degree, not all of them will accept your degree and it could take a lot of time convincing the grad school that your degree has prepared you. As for the actual quality of the Accounting department, they are top-notch people that are willing to help and have years of experience. The classes will prepare you for the CPA exam as well as classes can, but experience is what helps, especially in auditing. The best thing you can do for your career is to get an internship with an accounting firm to gain some experience. Experience will outweigh your degree in 2 years, so if you already have a year worth of experience, it will help you immensely. |
