im a freshman now and came from a big city to LFC b/c of the huge finaid package i got. at 1st, i was kicking myself everyday for coming here, but towards the end of the year, i made some really good friends, so i was ok.

this school is great academically, with very considerate professors, and lotsa ways to get help, though classes arent usually as small as they advertise. most of my classes this year was from 15-38. i never heard of any competitiveness at all, everyone likes to help each other, if not jus for an excuse to hang out. the most popular majors here are education (strict), business, international relations, and communication (relatively new, still growing). the requirements r very flexible and not hard at all.

beautiful campus, separated into north, middle, and south campus. safest place, but still it gets really dark and scary in certain places at night. near the beach, which is really cool, but then consider tht the majority of the year is freezing with the chicago weather. trust me, its bad. and when they say its close to chicago, tht means an hr train ride each way. it gets tiring after awhile, so a car is very useful. the town it's in is dead, rich, with its rich and arrogant neighbors who dun like us.

a very white school, ppl-wise, although once u get to know them they're very open and warm. but u hav to get to know them 1st, its very cliquey here, with seatings in the dining hall defined by minoritys, greeks, sports, and freaks. lotsa excuses to get drunk, the favorite pasttime here, and the drug scene is big considering wht a small school this is. heard it use to be a huge party school like 3-4 yrs back, but theyre changing that.

all in all, its a great school if it suits ur personaility. there's some give and take here, like the social life, but the academics r worth looking at. im transfering after this yr b/c personally the school doesnt fit my style, not if ur looking for diversity, a nightlife, and variety in fun.
