Frankly I was disappointed at UCSD. Coming from a small but highly academic high school in Costa Rica I was hoping that my undergraduate education would enrich me with applicable education, but UCSD did not prove to be what I was looking for. Many of my classes were taught by TAs. Moreover, several of my instructors assumed the students already knew what he/she was teaching. Several of my computing arts classes were based on pure theory, but nothning practical or actual skills to develop the concept. During my first couple of years I assumed that undergrad education was supposed to be this way until I took a couple of classes from a nearby community college. To my surprise, I learned more in one computer music class at the community college than what I've learned from my UCSD computer music class. The community college professor showed genuine interest in helping us learn and understand both the concept and the skills. He explained things clear and simple first to build up our knowledge foundation, then moved on to the deeper levels. In summary, I did not get what I paid for at UCSD.
