I love Conn College. Obviously, the school is not perfect, but in my two years here I have found that the benefits far outweigh the disadvantages. The costly tuition directly correlates with very small class sizes (my largest ever was 40, average has been more like 12-15) and therefore an excellent academic environment. Socially, the school is small which is nice because after only a semester it seems everyone is a familiar friendly face. Some criticize the lack of racial diversity on our campus, but I personally think that the relatively large number of international students is an awesome addition to the multiculturalism of our student body. One of my favorite aspects of the school is that, because of its size, getting involved in extra-curriculars is simply a matter of showing up and being committed- no ridiculous competition like at larger schools. The opportunities to study away or do summer internships etc. are plentiful and relatively easy to obtain. The dormitories and housing set up of the school are exactly what I had hoped for before entering - small, traditional housing with all upperclassmen guaranteed a single room. The town of New London itself is just “eh,” but the option of going to Boston, New York, or Providence for an evening or the weekend is very convenient. Overall, I would highly recommend this school to students interested in an intimately-sized liberal arts education. Finally, the campus is gorgeous (it truly looks just like the pictures online)! And the camel is a cool, albeit quirky, mascot - definitely unique.
