I don't want to leave a negative comment becuase I know a lot of people really like UCSD and it works for them. However, this school was the wrong choice for me. Overall, this is a research facility, and that's what it feels like. There isn't much enthusiasm for the sports teams we do have. There are no football games to go to or frat houses to party at. I'm not saying that the school is socially dead becuase if you want to go out and party every night, you can always find a party. But, you have to look for it. It's not the typical college experience I was looking for, which is something that bothers me. There are a lot of people out there who like to study and put a ton of effort into their classes. This is that type of school. I was just looking for more out of my college experience than what i have gotten. Sure, the education is good. But i was looking to meet interesting people, to go out to the city, to live a little, and this campus just hasn't provided that. I'm just tired of making such an effort to find fun and be a part of something. Overall, UCSD is great academically, but it wasn't what I was looking for. Maybe it will be that for you, I'm not sure. Just make sure you visit here before making your choice. I know this probably wasn't very helpful, but the college experience is different for everyone and what makes UCSD horrible for me can be wonderful for someone else. But, if you are someone like me who was always going to be in a sorority, likes football games, wants to live in greek housing, and is a little elitist (I don't want to lie, but I kind of am), then pick another school like USC.
