As a somewhat recent grad of the Academy (1999), I would respectfully disagree with this opinion. During my time as a naval officer and in my subsequent civilian career, I've found many of the lessons and traditional values taught—both in the classroom and in less formal settings—to be highly relevant to today's world. The mental and intellectual toughness I acquired has allowed to be very successful in both my professional and personal life. |
I would nt know since I am a freshman in highschool but after going through all of that dont you feel a sense of accomplishment and pride that makes you feel that it was worth it I mean it is after all USNA and so many people want to go there and so many cant? This may just be me (and this is an honest question) but why would you go through all that 4 5 years and then not think its worth it? |
Major: Engineering Department (This Major's Salary over time)
USNA was not worth the effort required to attend. It is less a school and more a test of staminia and endurance to mental and physical abuse. Though I survived and had a moderately successful career - command - I would no longer encourage young men to attend as the academy since it's values are distorted and even when valid are frankly no longer relevant in today's world.
