UHH is a lifestyle school. The campus in pleasant but quiet. The town is small, spread out and not a mighty economic engine. However, the island as a whole offers a wide range of activities. Forget about learning to network on your way to an MBA or interning at a Fortune 500 company. Look at UHH for courses focused on nature, whether it be geology, marine science, agriculture, forestry, ecology, or astronomy. The island provides a natural laboratory that no ivy league school could afford to replicate, and it attracts working scientists for the same reason. Many other programs are solid and you'll receive the individual attention of and access to professors you won't at most larger schools. The pace and atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious. Beyond that it's one of the most affordable 4 year colleges and a great place to forget about your seasonal affective disorder.
