Major: Communications (This Major's Salary over time)
I transferred to MC from a Big 12 school. Coming from such a "liberal" environment, MC was a definite culture shock. Academics: I have not been challenged academically. Coming from such a huge school, I know it's inevitably going to be different. But I really just haven't learned a lot. Teachers are nice and have great intentions, but it's not rigorous whatsoever. Attendance is required, and missing class affects your grade… pretty lame if you ask me. However, there are a lot of opportunities to become involved in academic clubs and, since it's such a small school, to pad your resume with all that and even get high positions in those clubs.Social life: Yeah. Horrible. If you're not a baptist, chances are you're not going to fit in. They do have social tribes and clubs (supposed to be like fraternities and sororities), but they more closely resemble middle-school cliques. City: Clinton is boring. Waffle House is cool. But that's really about all there is. Oh… and Wal*Mart. Everything else is about 30 minutes away.Side note: We had a gay-rights/religious group visit campus last year, and the Clinton PD arrested some of them for setting foot on campus. Ridiculously closeminded. That's not what college should be about.I don't like MC, and I'd transfer somewhere else in a heartbeat. But if you're very conservative, like small environments, and are after that sort of atmosphere… you'll really love it. Lots of people love it and do very well. It's just not for everyone.
