Sure the Surrounding city sucks but GSU is wonderful. I don't think I could go to any other college; especially UGA. The student body is a lot friendlier than what you would receive in Athens. Sure GSU is seen as a party schoo, but believe me when I say this, the partying has died down a lot. The university has actually put a stop to some of it by buying out a few of the bars around campus. It is basically a young University, compared to UGA or GT. It is only about 100 years old and has over 17,000 students as of 2008. Other than UGA and GT, it is the most desired college in Georgia to attend. It is also nationally recognized for nursing, logistics, chemistry, IT, IS, and it's graduate program in the College of Business. I absolutely love GSU for the beautiful campus that the work on everyday, the resources the college provides to help students succeed, the friendly atmosphere within' the student body and faculty, and anything else I can't think of. Sure there's a lot of rednecks in jacked up trucks but at least, for the most part, the campus isn't full of conceited ***holes like UGA. Statesboro does kind of suck but Savannah is only like 30 minutes away.
