I have an unusual situation compared to many other people here. One, I'm from Erie and have lived here my whole life and literally went to highschool down the street from Mercyhurst. I also took three classes here in highschool to get cheap college credit early, even though I was a lazy, ignorant student in highschool. Also, I did not attend my freshmen year here. I went to the University of Pittsburgh in Oakland my first year of college, and I liked it, didn't love it. I transferred here because I have a parent who works here and I attend virtually for free.

I am a business major sophomore and I feel that my classes are very easy especially compared to my previous school. I don't try or read or really do homework and I'm getting a 4.0 at the moment. I do like, however, the trimester system which allows for a lot of free time, which isn't very useful here.

As far as the social life goes, it's been accurately described by a lot of the other reviews. There is literally nothing to do here on weekends. People get together in apartments in small cliques and drink with paranoia that RAs or police and safety are going to bust them. My first weekend night here I almost got caught an unprecedented 3 TIMES. 2 of those times came just while trying to transport the beer. It's pathetic. I personally know someone from my highschool who goes here who got busted for having facebook pictures of a keg… Campus safety is rediculous and has nothing better but to bust underage drinking because there are no other crimes. I've been here full time for one term and have made one friend and gone to two parties, which kinda sucked. Everybody does their best to leave on weekends because of how strict it is here. The food at Pitt was bad, real bad, but comparing their food to here is like comparing Red Lobster to Sheetz gas station. There are only two places to eat and the hours for eating are random and rediculous. I think the cafeteria is open for a combined total of 4 hours a day. I have no interest whatsoever in ever attending a sporting event at this school. There is no school pride. Only the athletes care about the sports and only the specific sports they play.

After taking a step back, I can say that I am 100% regretting my decision to transfer here, even though I am saving thousands and thousands of dollars. I am embarassed to tell people I go here and I am seriously considering dropping out. I am not exaggerating or joking or lying in anyway when I say that I have become very depressed since attending this school. If I don't transfer back to a D1 school I will probably just enter the work force and work at one of the local factories in Erie. I hate my life.
