First off, do not come here if you are out of state…or do not like football. There is a lot of school spirit, fraternities/sororities, and a pretty much classic and unoriginal Midwest university. I feel as if the school does not really allow much for creativity and doesn't exactly let students think of their own ideas, everything seems to be productive instead of progressive. The campus is huge, paved over, and plain. There are many many people so it can be overwhelming, it may be hard to find your place. In my own experience, I met people one day but didn't seem them again for weeks or even months. The town is really shitty, I counted about 29 bars, not including the amount of places to get booze in general. The town can get rather depressing at times, especially if you don't have a car and have to walk everywhere. After all, the town is fed by the highway and the university is fed by the town. So you get this weird mix of fast food chains, hotels, bars, and a small downtown district. The dorms tend to be plain, the frats and sororities are built like dorms but are masterfully disguised as brick houses. There are many parking lots because about half of the students here are commuters. Most people here are friendly and the teachers can be helpful at times. Overall, people either love it here or hate it here. Me? I hate it here and I plan to transfer next semester, or at least leave the place. There are better universities out there besides BGSU which you have a equal chance of being accepted. Many kids tend to go home on the weekends, the commuter students are all gone on the weekends as well. If you like football, the color orange, shitty food, embarrassing slogans and pavement, this is the place for you. But seriously think twice before attending BGSU, there are other schools. Remember to visit BGSU before coming to a decision about it, you do not want to come here and waste your time.
