I have read the negative comments and can definitely relate to many of the gripes. However, I have no regrets about my 4 years at Thiel.

I was recruited to play basketball and also participated in track and field. As sports took up most of my time, I was not so much bothered that it was a small town with little excitement.

Thiel has a close-knit kind of feeling to it. Everyone basically knows everyone and you it's up to you to make a name for yourself. This works both ways, if you're a screw off and want to party all the time. You'll soon build that reputation. The teachers all knew not just my name, but all about me and would take time to help me, or even just to sit down and talk.

The school made vast improvements in the time I was there; renovating buildings, apartments, built new town houses, a chapel, fitness center, and a football field just to name a few.

There track and field team was probably the best experience of my life. The school is small, about 1,200 students and there is a real under-dog type feeling, but it just brings everyone closer. The track and field team has made vast improvements, along with the football team, both becoming national qualifiers.

The school does lack many things, and being a private school is somewhat expensive, but you can see the money going right back into the school everyday. What Thiel lacks in facilities and night-life, it makes up for in character and personal attention.

I recommend to not write off Thiel from a couple bad reviews and don't choose a school based on whether or not it's a good party school or exiting town. (the difference between a party at Thiel and a party at Penn State: 12 people in a room drinking/ 25 people in a room drinking)
