Major: Communications (This Major's Salary over time)
Being a native resident of Erie, PA I am used to Erie. Yet with little money and not being able to have a car freshman year, options for fun and going out are limited. We could potentially be a party school, but no one has the vision for it. That is the thing about Erie—Erie is a very sad, bleak, oppressive place.. yet on the bright side people are friendly or cliquey. usually bothSo we do drink for lack of anything better to do. It can be a lot of fun if your drunk enough. But if you don't have enough you'll just feel like you wasted a night, because in reality its just some people in a place and the guys are ready to assist the girls with anything they may need.. lol. i've found relationships are for the most part not entirely possible here, its a hookup culture. also as for campus security, they do bust a lot of parties but you can usually tell right before, and if you don't attract attention to yourself outside of a party you won't get pulled overIf you don't party they organize some nice things.. some events are good. free food. they have good movies on wed and things happenings in our performing arts center. classes are good. teachers are very supportive and helpful. I can say I've gained something from each of my classes. The teachers want you to succeedFood is great. I've found people who don't like the food to just not be open-minded in general… usually they're to ones who eat pizza and burgers everyday. But we have a great selection with a salad bar, and hot meals during mealtimes. Lunch and dinner is always something new, but make sure you know the meal times or else you'll get annoyed and have to eat salad bar, pizza or grill (those things are open on the off times). We can only eat at one building, which kind of sucks. We do have another food building, yet for some reason freshman are charged extra… I ate there before and they have good food but I dont want to support them since they obviously aren't supporting us in that area. Oh they also have a lot of cool food events they advertise… like they had a chocolate day with a chocolate fountain, a couple days ago they had a full thanksgiving dinner which was awesomeThey have a really good study abroad program here. If you stay the full 4 years I'd suggest you do it.. lots of locations, no reason not to… I'm pretty sure the only thing extra you'll have to pay for is the plane ticket (the rest of the price is the same I believe)They have clubs and sports. No one really watches the games, which is kind of sad. I went to a game and had fun though- the seats were more filled since their was a free food event happening. Their are clubs but they are hard to get in touch with. I needed to get in contact with over 3 people to join this one club, it was kind of ridiculous. So point being, its hard to get involved yet when you do things will be betterA lot of times you would like a change of location, and we do have a hurst bus which shuttles us downtown, or to the mall or something. Just don't be suprised if you look at the schedule and wait for a long time and it doesn't come. Yet when it does its a good resource. I just know it happened to me and over a few of my friends. Yet on the flip side we've also got rides through it beforeI don't know if its me or the school. because it does have some good features… one being the amazing financial aid. Yet another part of me wants to go somewhere with more nature, like mountains, better weather (about half the year is some form of winter), less cliquey people, with a less depressing city in general upperclassman can generally agree they have all wanted to transfer, yet you get comfortable with it. you can make the most of it. i just wonder if staying here is the right choice
