Major: Perfomance Arts (This Major's Salary over time)
Avoid attending this god forsaken college at all cause. I only came to this college to get back up on high grounds because I messed up my old college which was a private school. This college was okay when I first got here but as the months went by , I soon realized that this college was only filled with nothing but money haggers. The first month I was there they had already charged me with my first bill and almost kicked me out of my dorm if I didn't pay them soon. It was like this mafia or something. Therefore, my whole semester was fill with worries about financial problems rather than things to do with academics. The advisor they give you when you first go to the college doesn't know what she is doing. Instead of sending you to your proper advisor in your department, she puts you in classes SHE thinks you're supposed to take. So I took Anthropology to early and now have tons of theater classes to make up. They put you straight on Academic Probation after academic warning if you took one class in the summer in passed it and they put you on 10 meal plans when your change your housing there, even though you choose "0 meal plan" on the computer. They keep their money secured and do not give you that money, which you have to pay for, back. The food there even sucks. I had better experience with the food at my old college and they didn't have places such as Subway and Chik fil A there. These people have those such fast food places and still screw up. They don't even have a salad bar for students who need to be healthy. The rec center is on the bad side of campus where most of the crime happens in that area. The reason why is because the college is located by Orange Mound (one of the bad areas of Memphis). There have been over 3 robberies in that area already this year. The theatre department has too many MANDATORY meetings so I had to quit my job in order to have time for my school work. They don't even have things to do there at night and the campus is basically dead on the weekend beginning on Friday. Don't let them fool you with those weak activities they have for the freshman when they come on the first week. Also, the college is so segragated that they have a white side in the cafeteria and a black side. It's so sickening if you are a fan of diversity and unity. So basically, I wasted of year of some of the best times of my life coming to this college. I really do plan on transferring as soon as I get my GPA up and FAST because the college that I attended to had it's cons but was WAY better than the University of Memphis. I urge anyone who decides to attend this college to PLEASE THINK AGAIN. I mean, if you like segregation, bad food, and poor education, then come here. If I could change anything in my life, I would just get my GPA back up at a community college.
