I was a student at Reed in the 1970's and I'm still struggling with what happened to me there. They did absolutely nothing about poorly-made psychedelic drugs being created in the school's chem labs and being sold on campus. I knew two people who committed suicide in the two years I was there—you won't hear about it in the school's literature but at the time Reed had the highest suicide rate for colleges in the nation. The attitude of the school was "survival of the fittest" and if you blew your mind, God help you. If I knew anyone who wanted to go to Reed, I'd try to change their mind as if their life depended on it, because it probably does.

responseThat was the 70's. You can't claim a school resembles itself 40 years ago.
responseThe problem with poorly-made psychedelic drugs persisted into the 1980s. The only solution was to shop around and try to find the well-made ones. It's true the literature did not emphasize that some of the "homebrew" was low quality, but generally I found the drugs pretty good and the education fabulous. Don't listen to the aggrieved whiners who left dissatisfied.
responseGood to hear that the drugs were fantastic. That's an important factor in my decision.
