After reading the other comments about Slippery Rock University I had to express my opinion. I have attended Slippery Rock University for four years, and it has been the best four years of my life. While the town itself is small and there is not much in the way of "night-life" or chain restaurants or bars, it is very quaint and likeable. Who needs Chili's and the Olive Garden anyways, when you have the Brewery and Luigi's?? If you can't find ways to have fun with your friends in Slippery Rock, then I feel you need to take yourself less seriously. There were many nights where we did nothing but hang-out in our apartment or walk around town that were the best times of my life.

True, campus is generally under construction and there are problems with parking and registration etc etc, I don't know of a college where you wouldn't have that. And while the construction on campus is annoying, it is all for a good cause and is making The Rock an up-and-coming university!! One further comment about parking.. if you're that concerned with it, while the university has a beautiful sprawling campus, it is very walkable. So instead of worrying about parking, take a nice walk to campus. Your health will thank you as well!

The faculty and staff in my department were more than I could have hoped for. You are not simply a number, they know you by name, know your background and what you want to do in life. You come to know them personally and can then use them as you tranisition into your professional career as valuable connections with the professional world. The faculty are very involved in their professional worlds and perform research as well. At SRU I had the opportunity to participate in research as an undergrad student… that doesn't happen everywhere.

Also, its no lie that the weather is less than tropical here… It does rain, a lot, and its very cold and snowy in the winter. I personally hate the snow and cold. However, I would not change one second of my time here at Slippery Rock. When you and your friends can go sledding down the ski slope on campus, you know you're living the winter life. The cold and snow is all a part of SLippery Rock's charm, and makes you appreciate spring, summer and fall that much more.

Slippery Rock is a "small" university that offers all you could ask for in a college. We have a beautiful recreation building (the ARC) and they have just completed amazing intramural fields. I don't know of anyone who cannot find a club on campus that satisfies their interests. I have been a member of many different clubs, shows etc and have loved it! Slippery Rock is an amazing and wonderful place, void of the concrete, fast paced stuffiness that comes with living in the city. Rock Falls Park is a great place to relax, or take your homework and study. And if you crave that "night-life", downtown Pittsburgh is not even 45 minutes away.

For anyone who is interested in Slippery Rock, I suggest visiting the campus and forming your own personal opinion. If you're going for Exercise Science, this is the place to be! Slippery Rock has one of the best, if not THE BEST Exercise Science department in the nation.

Again, for all of you college bound people, no matter where you go to school, your experience is what you make it. So have a positive outlook on school and life in general and I am sure that you will have a wonderful experience no matter where you end up.
