Major: Nursing (This Major's Salary over time)
I graduated from the nursing school in 1985. It was a lot more challenging than I expected. About 50% of the class dropped out or flunked out by graduation. Nursing is a serious career choice and is not a field where you can rest on your laurels. I was well prepared to pass the NCLEX exam on the first try and also meet the many challenges I have faced over the years because of the rigorous training I received. The only thing I would suggest, for any nursing program actually, would be more clinical time, either an internship or residency program of at least 6 months to 1 year (with hands on skills and advanced monitoring)…it has been my experience that we tend to get "thrown to the wolves" and are at the mercy of our preceptors who are often too busy. We would not lose so many nurses this way and better care would be given.
