Me? I love Sacred Heart.

From the minute I pulled onto campus for my first tour of the school, I knew it was where I wanted to go. The buildings didn't look that bad, the campus was small, but not too small. Everything about the school seemed great- and a year and a half after my first tour, and one semester into my education, I still love it.

I was a little scared when I read all of the terrible reviews about the school- how it was dirty, falling apart, old, everyone's from LI, etc… And I almost decided against coming here because of all of that. I felt like everything I had seen and heard about the school prior to that had been a lie.

But when I got here in August for pre-season sports, I realized that all of it wasn't true. I was so happy that I hadn't decided against SHU. Sure, the food isn't the best, but it's college cafeteria food… You can't really be expecting to be eating the finest cuisine in the New England. It's not bad- they tend to serve the same things every week, and usually there is very little day to day variety. But they always have a lot of different things to eat. Another thing that was scaring me was that all of the reviews complained about the amount of people from Long Island. I only know about four people from there, so I don't even know what that's talking about. The work is tough, but mainly because I was used a pretty easy workload… But it's manageable. I barely get homework; the hardest part of the education is the studying… I put in a lot of hours, but I'm sure I would anywhere.

The dorms are NOT that bad. People complain about them, but really, all of my friends who go to other schools have smaller rooms, fewer bathrooms per hall, more uncomfortable furniture, and so on.

From what I gather from my friends who are upperclassmen, you're either going to completely love Sacred Heart, or you're going to completely hate it. There's no middle ground. I think it is what you make it… If you want it to be a really expensive school with nothing to do, then it will be. If you want it to be the best school ever, it will be. I dunno. Just get involved with something… I know they say it a billion times, but it's sooo true. I'm on a sports team, and it takes up 99% of my free time, but I love it. I've made so many friends that way, and it's just the way to go. Join a team, join band, join a few clubs, participate in Greek Life- just do something. You're going to be miserable if you sit in your room all day and do jack shit. Sorry to be blunt, but it's true…

Anyways. It's a good school. I like it. Come to Sacred Heart. ♥

questionCan you tell me more about the party/social scene? ive decided to go here next year :) and yeaa the comments scared me at first too!
responseAs long as you make friends, the party/social scene is funnn. Haha. There's always some sort of house party to go to, whether it's a sports team celebrating or some of the Greek life people having a party because they can. There's also clubs in New Haven you can go to- there's usually a bus that goes to them. If not, get a group of friends together and take a taxi, OR be friends with upperclassmen who will DD for you. (: I wouldn't worry about the comments. Haha. Really, the happiest people don't have time to write reviews because they are so involved with friends or stuff. Good luck next year!
