It's difficult not to have mixed feelings about TCC. It's one of the better community colleges in Florida, which isn't saying much. A lot of the students are flaky and many have no idea what they're doing in college. There are a lot of community college stereotypes present, such as forty year old housewives, single mothers from bad neighborhoods, unmotivated stoners, gangbangers, etc. This this isn't to say there aren't some fun and interesting people, and that is what makes TCC worth it.

As for the administration, the Financial Aid office is a bureaucratic nightmare. It's as if they regularly play ping-pong with the cashier's office and you are the ball. TCC's other services are not particularly effective either: don't expect any helpful advice from the Career Center.

Faculty are a mixed bag. Some instructors are calm and pleasant. Some prefer to lecture and don't take questions. Don't expect to go to TCC for more than a semester without being in a classroom run by either an obsessive-compulsive bully or a wild-eyed psycho with an axe to grind.

One of the better aspects of TCC is working out your schedule. Scheduling is extremely flexible. Half-semester classes are a nice perk and TCC's online classes are always a safe bet.

While the staff and services may not always be the best (it's a community college after all) the sense of community and academic exploration TCC provides is well worth it.
