Overall, I have really loved it in Statesboro at Georgia Southern. With the HOPE Scholarship in GA, this place like any other school in this state, has explded. So there have been some growing pains. However, there are some beautiful new facilities to accomodate this.

I feel this is a quality education and pretty challenging. Football and band is fun. There's partying like any other school, but the rigor of coursework forces you to curtail your partying or you won't last. So the reputation of GSU as a party school is outdated.

I do have some negative observations: the meal plan sucks! If you don't use your paid for meals at the end of the week, you lose them! Why is that? It should be at the end of the semester! Dining services is one area that needs a total plan overhaul & there needs to be more full-services places on this large campus. For what yuou get, it's very expensive compared to similar schools.

Also, housing is not only expensive comparatively speaking. Also, you are not guaranteed housing after your freshman year and are likely to lose if after your first year. This forces students into local rental houses. Lots of students get their parents to buy these houses for their kids & roomates, then they have to try and flip them after graduation or become absentee slumlords.

You have to get involed to get involved in something on campus, but there's plenty of stuff. If you don't, the campus is in the middle of nowhere and many fall prey to driving to Svannah for the beach or bars. Beware…many have paid dearly for that.

Campus employment is great.
