Currently I am a 1st semester sophomore at SHU. I am not one to ever regret doing anything in my life but choosing to go to SHU was not one of my smartest ideas. Everyone that goes here, everyone you ask why you go here they will either say because of their program they got into or the amount of money they go to go here or that they didn?t get into their first choice school. It?s rare that you hear people say that they actually wanted to go here. 99% of my friends that I met freshman year of left the school and me personally I am right now trying to apply to leave. The location of this school is not in Fairfield, they say it is but it?s not true at all it?s in Bridgeport which is one of the worst cities on the east coast. There is absolutely nothing to do around here and the iron fence the surrounds the school starts to feel like a cage after a while. The students here are less than favorable. 30% are from Long Island alone. The students are closed minded, arrogant, have been handed everything to them, and are spoiled brats. They are horrible people. There is nothing to do here on the weekend. The social life is horrible. You either have to go to a sketchy bar in Bridgeport or new haven, or a grimy club, or you have to go to an overcrowded house party that is usually broken up by 12 anyways. I do not feel like I have grown as a person at all by going here and I feel like it is not worth the 45 grand you pay to go here. The library is horribly outdated, the dorms are horrible. Don?t let them fool you with the D1 excitement. This school is a fake D1 school, no one goes to the games, our sports teams are horrible thanks to the shitty coaches and we have gotten our D1 ranking threatened to be taken away from us. This is partly because the students are more excited to go out and get messed up then have pride in their teams and go watch their games. This school is tiny; it?s more like a high school than a college. I feel like I?ve gone back in time by going here. You see the same people every day, everyone knows everyone?s business. I?ve never been happier to be applying to transfer. It?s the biggest waste of money. Yes you might have a decent 4 years, but don?t settle for this school. The only positive I can say it that I have had some great teachers while I was here but I have also had some horrible ones. Another positive is that I have met some great friends while I was here but all but 2 have transferred out. Don?t make the same mistake I did!!!! Think twice before coming to SHU!!!
