McMurry is awesome. If you can get over living in Abilene. While you don't need a car to have a good time here, it's way better to have wheels to actually get to explore Abilene a little. There isn't much to do, but its better than sitting in the dorm all day. There are a bunch of clubs to join and non advertised clubs(the best ones) to join. The best thing about McM is the small class sizes, you are not getting a McDiploma or a McDegree plan. You will actually learn something at this school. The professors WILL help you. They actually care that you do well in your classes. I have never once been told to speak to a TA if i dont understand something, but rather told or even gotten a text before to meet them in the library or their office. Many will even do a weekend study session on their off days if the class asks for additional help on difficult material. The people here are not stuck up or snotty, some of them are, but most of the trust fund babies and spoiled kids are at hardin-simmons or acu. Everyone is pretty laid back here and it is never a fashion show in class, most people roll into 8am classes with pillow marks on their face still and pajamas. McM has a fairly strict attendance policy. By McM i really mean the professors, but like i said, most will work with you if you have a legit reason to miss class. I really, really respect and admire 95% of my professors. The 5% are spread around the college. I don't know how they got hired, but these are the profs who cant answer questions, or get confused or just aren't confident. You are able to swap out of classes into another professors course if you get one of the 5%. And the majority of the time the other professor will let you into the class, even if it is maxed out. The downside is not being able to "sit in" on other courses like you can do in huge lecture halls for review, or just to learn the course material. Like all colleges the freshmen need to be punched in the face. The hipster content is fairly low at the moment, and since it is a private school you will have the benefit of taking courses in a strictly educational environment(you arent being taught the prof opinion, and are encouraged to make your own decisions based on what you learn)The campus is small and easy to get around. They are doing a huge construction project in phases and so far it hasnt interrupted commute on or around campus.
