Bishop's University (Canada)

I'll put things in point form for people who want a quick and concise look into what I personally think of BU so far. It is only my first year, but I have no reason to doubt that what I have experienced thus far IS the BU experience.

SRC is lazy, unprofessional, not that friendly and don't do many things well (with the exceptions of the many flip cup tournaments they run)

Don't be swayed by any one else's opinion: THIS IS A PARTY SCHOOL!

SOME (and I stress some because I am part of some great clubs as well) are VERY VERY VERY unprofessional, unorganized, and surprisingly are the ones ran by the upper year students in the faculty. I have signed up for numerous clubs and have not gotten a SINGLE email about meetings and events, including going out of my way more than once to ensure that I was on this list.

So far, I have had 2 prof's that I would rather not have (out of 7), but the profs I do like;

*** have gone out of their way numerous times for extra help sessions, weekly tutorials, office hours, made an extra trip back to the school to bring me my marked work because I was leaving for weekend, EXTREMELY APPROACHABLE, all call me by my first and last names, are super friendly, and one of them is even a bartender at the local bar and she is amazing.

The teachers really like their jobs for the most part and like being part of the small Bishop's community just as much as the students do. I don't have any really "so so" profs. They're are 2 I don't like, and the other 5 are AMAZING.

I don't drink often, because I am a prospective dental student so my GPA, EC's are most important to me (also pay for my own education, which I think drives me harder to succeed). Even though this is a renowned party college, I have found my "niche" here and have been doing fairly well and enjoying myself!

I thought for awhile I might want to transfer to Queen's , Western, UBC, maybe UofT… but at the end of the day, I don't mind getting dust blown everyday in my face as transports drive by due to a lack of street cleaning (don't doubt it ever happened), the absurd drunk students who make themselves look like idiots almost everyday of the week, the loss of our athletic team's because they drink too much the night before…

Because at the end of the day… I'M STILL A GAITER! SO CHEERS (to the times I do drink) TO THE LAZY ASS'S OF THE SRC, OUR SHITTY SRC CLUBS, AND MANY MORE YEARS TO COME HERE AT BU!

BUUUUUU!!!!!!
