I have been telling everyone who would listen to me just how much I really enjoyed PPCC for the past 8 years. I have told prospective UCCS students that the education I receive for my undergrad was better at PPCC than was the graduate education I received at UCCS.

I recently recommended that my husband take classes as PPCC because of the higher quality education. He is being funded through the VA so price does not matter, this was purely a higher benefit decision. We found out today through a very rude phone call from the PPCC admin that he was dropped from all classes due to the VA not paying the entire tuition by January 5th (apparently a new policy via the state education board). Now, mind you he had just registered for classes on the 3rd. So their new policy requires that if you are not paid in full by the 5th that you are dropped from all classes and you are banned from registering for the current semester.

So, after he got this lovely phone call, he contacted the VA liaison to find out what was going on and they informed him he could still register for classes. Then the rude woman from PPCC admin called back and my husband told her he had been dropped from all classes and couldn't get back in to most of them (some were dropped even though two days ago there were 25 students enrolled - I think he isn't the only student this happened to). The women told him

don't yell at a person who is just calling you to tell you that you were dropped

and she hung up on him. He wasn't yelling at her (trust me, I know, I am his wife) but even if he had been, I feel from a business perspective that is very unprofessional. It is obvious that PPCC does not care about their students or their reputation.

This school has gone downhill from where it had been 10 years ago. Not only that, the professors who made it truly special have all moved on… maybe that should be a clue. PPCC needs customer service.
