Major: Business - Management and Administration (This Major's Salary over time)
I attended Polk State College (Formerly Polk Community College) from 2006 until 2011. I initially chose PSC because I was changing majors and I needed to take a few courses in order to meet the requirements for acceptance into USF's College of Business. During the first 2 years I was only able to attend 2 classes per term because I was working full-time. In 2008 I had completed the necessary courses to transfer to USF, but then i was told that PSC was going to start offering a BAS program so I decided to finish my degree there instead.

Honestly, that was the worst decision I have ever made regarding my education. The professors for the BAS program are plucked out of the working world and thrown into a classroom, many without an understanding of adult learning theory or any teaching experience. Just because a professor has completed a Graduate or Doctorate program, it does not make them a good professor. I have had professors ask students to read powerpoint slides in a class (slides that were made available before class) just as filler. Some have even spend the first class talking about themselves and all there accomplishments. This wouldn't bother me as much if the class met twice a week, but we're talking about an 8 week class that meets 4 times for 3 hours each class. What this means is that students spend 1/4 of their classroom time listening to a professor ramble on about themselves without actually learning anything. The professors are not considerate of students time, they are condescending when the students viewpoint does not align with their own, and many of them don't even know the material they are teaching. I've been in a classroom where the student was able to successfully answer a students question before the professor could find it in the book. It's that bad.

Also, with the exception of a few courses, the coursework isn't challenging in the least. It's simply time-consuming. It's busy-work. If you want to be challenged academically this is not the school for you. If you plan on pursuing a Masters program, this is not the school for you. However, if you enjoy open-book, multiple-choice tests, and opinion-based discussions where no facts are required to substantiate your claim, then this is absolutely the school for you.

The tuition might be cheap, but your money is better spent elsewhere since your degree will be worthless.
