I feel like the IU is on the right track to becoming a great institution, but it needs to maintain focus on academics and facilitating a better learning environment for great students. Over the course of my study I was somewhat surprised to see the number of mediocre students admitted. It seemed like IU made up it's mind to grow it's student population at the expense of quality - it certainly must have adopted less rigorous academic standards for incoming freshmen. I will, however, give the university credit for quickly dropping poor performing students/ students looking for more of a "party" atmosphere - most of them ending up at West Chester University. That explains a lot of the student turnover.

Currently, I see a lot of money spent on advertising, yet, 4 years out, there hasn't been much change in faculty/curriculum. I have reached out to faculty and faculty leaders and urged them to adopt a more demanding curriculum (business department). I was pleased to have seen some adjustments, although they are not quite there yet.

The core faculty, at least in my experience, is very dedicated to teaching and should be commended. I would, however, recommend to the university at large to bring in some more academically accomplished staff members to increase the credibility of the university. In order to compete with schools like Drexel and Villanova, Immaculata needs offer a similar educational experience - that means notable, top tier professors. I know a good portion of the adjunct staff teach at these institutions as well.

Immaculata boasts a positive environment for students that WANT to learn and I can attest to that. Over the past 10 years the university has vastly improved and taken the steps necessary to one day compete with the other notable long-standing private institutions in the Philadelphia area.

If you are an academic looking for close relationships with your professors, this place is for you.

If you are looking for a party school, this place is not for you.
