Major: Nursing (This Major's Salary over time)
I came to Concordia College as an undergrad and then started the Nursing Program. Concordia for undergrad is ridiculous. The kids are not that bright, are shallow, and have an undue sense of superiority. Most students don't really care about their academics and just want to get high, drink, or hook up ALL the time, and not in a fun way, but in a sad/apathetic this-school-sucks-so-i'm-gonna-get-high-all-the-time type of way. A lot of the undergrads are ignorant. This is probably due to the fact that Concordia will let just about anybody into their school. The vibe on campus is very apathetic. The school spirit is definitely lacking, but it makes sense because the school is pretty lame and the sports teams generally aren't very good. The faculty seems lazy and out of touch. Students joke about how it should be called "Concordia High School" and it's so true, because it feels like High School all over again. Now onto the Nursing Program. Concordia's Nursing program is different than Concordia for undergrad. The nursing program is good. However they expect A LOT from you, but that is how the nursing profession works. This program is CHALLENGING, but also rewarding. They make you work for it. Also keep in mind that the program is new and they are still working through the kinks. If you're just coming for nursing, Concordia is a good choice if you live nearby and want to get done a little early (since the program is accelerated.) If you're from out of state, or are undergrad, DON'T COME TO CONCORDIA. It's not that positive of an experience, and you could really go to any other school. Also it's very expensive, and the campus facilities (the gym, the cafeteria) are crappy enough that you'll frequently find yourself wondering where that $40,000 a year is going… faculty crack parties? Probably. Also there are like less than 800 students. If you're looking for variety, go elsewhere. Yes it's close to NYC, but it's far enough away that you probably won't go more than twice a week and probably a lot less than that. The proximity to NYC is not worth the shittiness of campus life.
