Unity College

I attended Unity College for one year and I am so happy to be transferring. I don't even know where to begin with how terrible this school is. Prepare yourselves, this is a long review.

I'll start with the people. They weren't very friendly here. I was once yelled at for thanking a person holding the door, because they "weren't holding it for me". Another time, I politely asked somebody to stop blowing smoke in my face. They screamed at me for "being against pot". I'm not, I just really like being able to breathe.

Res life isn't very good either. For example, in the first dorm I lived in my RA disappeared for two weeks without any warning to go hunting. We had no clue he was gone, and nobody bothered to tell us. The housing director didn't seem to care. Then, in my second dorm, somebody was keeping a CHICKEN as a pet. It stank, and a keeping a chicken in those conditions is downright cruel. Our RA did nothing about it and the girl was never reprimanded.

Staff can be iffy, as well. My professors were all fantastic and helpful, which was great, but some faculty working there simply rubbed me the wrong way.

During my second semester there, I was being stalked by a "secret admirer". He would leave notes on my door that were downright creepy. I was so scared, and I needed help. When I went to the housing director, he "was not concerned" and wouldn't help me. It took my family threatening legal action to get him to give me a restraining order, and during the meeting, he seemed very annoyed. He told me I should just talk to him, and that I was overreacting. He laughed at me when I said I'd been stalked before. This is NOT okay!

If you do make the mistake of going to this school, do not work in the dining hall. During my time there they "forgot" to give me two of my checks, which were worth about $120. I didn't receive a check for two pay periods in a row, and when I asked about it, my boss said that I had filled out a certain form incorrectly. They knew about it long before but never intended to get it corrected so I would be paid. I wouldn't have found out if I hadn't brought it up.

Another time, there was a pretty nasty blizzard. As in, I couldn't see two feet in front of me in daylight. I worked nights so walking to and from would have been very unsafe. I was trying to get a ride to and from with public safety. They told me to

stop complaining and walk

My boss, who originally told me to try and get a ride because walking wasn't safe, was suddenly yelling at me for not walking.

This school is terrible, and when I was looking at colleges I thought it would be perfect. Please don't make the same mistake as I did.
