I have only been here a few weeks but I think I have a pretty good feel for how the rest of this year (at least) is going to go. I came from New York and I feel to over-prepared for Slippery Rock. I was an above average student in High School and I thought there would be a decent mix of academic abilities here. Of the few assignments I have gotten back so far, I can tell you that there are people here that are so far beyond struggling that it is painful to see. There are a few people here that I would say I am comparable to academically.

Other than the sub-par intelligence (for the most part), the people here are SO nice. All of the workers at the food places are very friendly.

I have mixed feelings towards my professors so far. I have a couple really bad professors and a couple of really good ones, but so far they all are more than willing to help students. The classwork difficulty I would say is average so far.

I live in the residence halls, Watson specifically, which is really nice! My roommates and I haven't had any issues so far, as far as maintenance goes.

I really don't recommend bringing a car unless you live far away (2+ hours). If you live any closer you can just go home on the weekends, which 99% of the students do. If you live far away, make friends that live far away too so you can hang out on the weekends.

There is a no drinking policy here which probably causes more issues than it's worth. Because people can't drink on campus, people go to sketchy parties off campus. You find out real quick from people what off-campus parties you should and should not go to.
