The University of Central Arkansas

What can I say? Even though the University of Central Arkansas is a beacon of hope for the state, it's still located dead center in one of the most closedminded parts of the country.

In my time here I have learned some things that might be useful to an incoming student:

Everything still runs on the good ol' boy system. Just ask our President, Lu Hardin.

In the recent past, UCA has allowed fraternities to LITERALLY get away with murder.

There was a meth lab busted on campus.

White trash is still white trash even if you try to cover it up with Abercrombie clothing.

You can drive to anywhere in Conway within 7 minutes.

It's kinda funny. Some of these small town kids who have never had any experience living in a real city seem to feel that they have somehow become more cosmopolitan after moving to Conway.

But I digress…

People for the most part are friendly and polite despite the dumbass frat boys you have to deal with. The faculty are helpful and well-meaning, if not always competent. There have occaisionally been some exceptional professors but they usually leave or get fired for their non-conformist views and teaching styles.

It's not all bad, but just don't expect too much from a university in a state whose governor lived in a trailer while in office.
