I came to La Sierra thinking that the school was ethical and that professors were highly qualified but I found that some of the professors teaching graduate and undergraduate courses were not proficient in their disciplines. As regards to diversity, La Sierra is not a diverse campus. There very few African American professors here. In fact the only Black professor in the Business Department is an African. If you are Black, this could be a school from hell. Do not allow their website to mislead you. This is a very racist university and they get away with their racist practice under the false pretense of religion. The department chairs are unethical and they lack morality. Rules are selectively apply to different students. The professors are corrupt and lack accountability from the Dean, the provost and the president of the university. Professors who lack ethics are not disciplined and the students are left to fend for themselves.

I would not recommend parents to send their children to this school. The education at La Sierra is substandard.

2nd Year Male -- Class 2013

Most students have pre-med or pre-dent delusions - La Sierra is a major feeder school, if not THE feeder school for Loma Linda University. The biggest departments are Business, Biology, Chemistry, and Religion ... the other departments seem to be small shoestring departments.

The dorms have the usual Adventist rules, which will seem like crazy freedom for most cloistered Adventist academy kids: staying out until 2 am! wearing shirts that show your shoulder blades! It'll seem suffocating for those not used to the system though, as the school attempts to micromanage the students' lives: be vegetarian! no alcohol, not even in your personal fridge! etc etc.

The dorms are quite old. The boys' dorm is like any other normal dorm. In the girls' dorm, however, you can't have microwaves or toasters because the electrical wiring is THAT old. You can, however, have fridges.... but the electricity supply is probably capable of being blown out by several strong hairdryers.Students are generally very friendly, and open. Hugs are big on this campus. It's a nice place, if you're prepared for it.
