The fact that you are required to goQuite BrightArt & Design Department
The fact that you are required to go to chapel is utterly ridiculous. Many of the professors are very good in the field and the city is great to live in but the people there..ehhh..sooo child-like, the christian system does not allow the students to grow up very much. Do yourself a favor and don't let your parents make you go here. Ben Patterson may get irritating. That is all.

Question
I went to Westmont because the Kinesiology programBrightKinesiology
I went to Westmont because the Kinesiology program is nationally ranked, I love the city of Santa Barbara, and I have always been active in my Christian religion. When I first started looking at Westmont I was concerned because my Christian beliefs are more on the liberal side, I spoke to different counselors there who all told me the same thing, that the school was open-minded and that I wouldn't feel any pressure what-so-ever. This is why I was so caught off guard when during the first week I had to sign a contract saying that I was against homosexuality, profanity, and drinking. I was disgusted with how close-minded everyone was. Almost immediately I was "disliked" by most of the girls on my floor, stemming mostly from a remark I made about one of my best friends being gay. This came as a shock to me since I was honestly nice to everyone. I was constantly hearing my roommate, professors, and pastors talking about hell and the wrathful God. I admit, this may have been an individual case but bottom line I felt completely deceived by Westmont. Needless to say I left after merely one semester.

Question
I think Westmont flies under the radar forQuite BrightReligion/Religious
I think Westmont flies under the radar for many simply because it isn't Wheaton. It is probably true that Wheaton has better academics, but the academics at Westmont are still outstanding, especially in the religious studies department. The faculty represent a broad range of church backgrounds and religious views, and in almost all of my classes, they have taught the views of many instead of simply presenting their own. They are also truly glad to help if you seek them out. The work in and outside of class truly engages my mind on levels I was not expecting: I feel that I'm learning plenty of information, but I'm also learning how to think better and in different ways.
