The University of Ottawa (Canada)

Despite the recent advertising on the radio for the University of Ottawa, I strongly caution students from attending. It took me 4 months to get a question about my program answered. I am not exaggerating. The administrative staff do not serve anglophone students the same as they serve francophone students. While you may be accepted into a program, that in no way guarantees that all your required courses will be offered! Honestly, I had to take time off of work because they would not offer a course to part-time students even though it was a compulsory course. Do not go to Ottawa U.

4th Year Female -- Class 2018

Campus Aesthetics: B+, Education Quality: F

Housing office is not helpful at all and is ruining my experience. They don't tell you that in order to get into your residence of choice that you have to apply in January. If you don't apply before you accept in offer you risk having to stay in the horrible apartments that are the Brooks residence. The brooks residence does not allow for social interaction, the air conditioning sucks and has to be on all the time and the bedrooms are still sweltering. My recommendation is that if you are offered a Brooks residence DECLINE and live off campus. Save your money and rent somewhere else. Truly not worth the amount of money. Living in Brooks and dealing with the Housing Service has been the worst experience of my life and if it were possible to get the money back for tuition and housing, I would pack up and head home and apply somewhere else for next September. Truthfully the most inconsiderate, conceded and unhelpful staff that anyone could employ.

My faculty treat me like a number. I'm in social sciences and I once had trouble registering for a course and they didn't respond to my e-mails so I called and ended up on hold for an hour before hanging up. I've called into other faculties and they aster the phone and e-mail really quickly and help me much better. I'm also in french immersion and apparently there was an issue with my graduating and receiving the certificate and they waited until I was registering for my courses for my last year to tell me even though the issue had started two years prior. I had also been in to see french immersion mentors and academic advisors and no one bothered to mention this to me.
