This colleged destroyed my dreams of what college was going to be like. This place is summer camp with classes! Did you know that there are people here who got accepted and have failed to turn in their final highschool transcripts..how sad is that?
This school does not care about its students, it cares about the money they can make off them. The turn-around rate is horrible, every year the freshman class looses at least half its original student body. This is a business school but no one here knows how to run a college.
The worst part is you can't escape. Do not believe them for a second when they say that your credits will transfer, they will not. I have tried everything to get out of this school but Northwood is this entity that grips its fangs into you and never lets you leave.
All we do at Northwood is drink and get high in our dorms. Their are no facilities for students to do activities ( NO the student life center doesn't count, I had a bigger gym in my highschool). We have no indoor pool, locker rooms that only certain teams can use, no student lounges, no 24 hour computer labs, football field...nope we don't have that, we have no place to even get food after 10:00 PM
I really think someone is playing a prank on me with this whole Northwood thing... The grounds are beautiful though. | Useful Schoolwork: A, Education Quality: F

| Quite Bright | I think my college experience was a good one. As long as you are in school for the right reasons and really focus on all the resources that are being provided by the school it will benefit you later. It's what you make out of school that will help you at the end. I had a soccer and academic scholarship and I believe a lot of the things I learned have helped me. One thing that I do suggest from the school is to help out more with job placing but overall the professors are willing to help you if they see that you are willing to learn and think you are a great candidate. The fact the Northwood is small helps with student to teacher ration as far as getting a one on one with the professor to help you understand material better and help you with guidance for your career. For future students my advice would be to stay focus and remember that you are paying for this education so don't waste your money or your parents money. At the end when you finally go to the real world your true friends will be there regardless but what you learn and take from the experience no one else can give you. I would say enjoy yourselves but make sure to keep your priorities in order. | Starting Job: Personal Banker/VirtualBank, Preparedness: A, Reputation: A | | |

I attended Northwood University’s Tampa educational center and made a couple of trips down to the main Florida campus in West Palm Beach.
If you are 18 and headed for college, do yourself a favor and go to Miami, FSU, UF, UCF, USF, or any school you can find with a halfway decent regional/national reputation. However, if you are like me (a working adult), Northwood is not too bad. It’s far better than Phoenix, DeVry, or any for-profit school.
I did notice a huge difference between the two campuses: The Tampa campus had working professionals that were smart, focused and dedicated. I never ran into any slackers or encountered any students that I would be embarrassed to “share” a degree with. Most of them were firefighters, county employees, or had good jobs at Nextel, Citibank, or other well-respected companies in the Bay area. I was very happy with Northwood (and sort of proud) until I visited the West Palm Beach Campus.
At the WPB campus I ran into lazy ghetto kids who couldn’t speak English. It was like walking on the campus of Hillsborough Community College and talking to the kids in remedial classes. I would NEVER let my kids enroll at my own alma mater – and that’s sad.
PROS: Good education, qualified instructors, regional accreditation, non-profit status, dedicated staff, convenient for working adults without being too easy or watered down.
CONS: No one has ever heard of Northwood. Even people who were born and raised off Military Trail in West Palm Beach have never heard of Northwood (no joke. I’ve encountered this twice).
I attended Tampa and West Palm Beach, but my diploma says Michigan! WTF? I had to take it out of my office because everyone kept telling me “I never knew you lived in Michigan!”
If Northwood plans to continue promoting itself as a school that specializes in business, they should invest in a professional business accreditation. AACSB, ACBSP, or the “bottom of the bucket” IACBE at least would boost the school’s image. Regional accreditation is step one, but now it’s time for step two. SUMMARY: If you’re a working adult, you could do far worse. If you’re 18 with decent SAT’s you can do far better. I had a good job when I enrolled, and I have an even better job now. I attribute 0% of this to Northwood since it was my experience that landed me a new position before I even graduated. | Preparedness: B+, Reputation: F

| Quite Bright | I attended the evening class program designed for working adults. My first business class, marketing, consisted of projects/assignments that had the class working in groups to develop methods to better market Northwood University. We were also to improve the NU mission statement (which, by the way, is terrible). I evening class program takes advantage of the students' situation and has them doing work that NU cannot afford to have an outside company do. Quite sad, actually. Each class felt like a waste of time and I quit attending NU, and giving them my money. | Faculty Accessibility: B, Education Quality: F | | | |
