Georgia tech is amazing. So much to do in and out of school. almost any extracuricular activity you can think of.

Question
I will address the good and the bad.Quite BrightMechanical Engineering
I will address the good and the bad. There is more bad than good, so scroll down if you don't want to read the bad. This is my first year here, and maybe I haven't been able to fully experience tech, however I completely hate it here. I am fully ready to transfer. If you want the college experience (which is what I most looked forward to in college, because I prefer to enjoy and experience life rather than work hard till I grow old and die) then DEFINITELY do NOT come here. There are parties here and there, a couple of events once in a while, and the city is really nice, but it is definitely not enough to offer a balanced lifestyle in my opinion. The school is full of techies and kids who never leave their rooms, except to eat the less-than-appetizing food at the dining hall. And of course the ratio. 7 guys for every 3 girls would not be so bad if it wasn't for the fact that 2 out of those 3 girls are sitting in their room studying, which leaves 7 guys on each girl. It's a common sight to see a girl walk into a party and be swarmed by guys who were originally waiting in line to be able to communicate with a different girl. No offense ladies, but you won't be finding tech on any best looking schools list either. Doubtful it would catch runner up. All of these things combined results in a student body that is miserable and broken spirited. I will mention some GOOD things. This school provides an excellent education and will definitely prepare you for life after college. I can't say how much it will help with jobs because I haven't been able to show my Tech degree to employers yet, but from what I hear, Georgia Tech alums usually get higher saleries and better jobs. The school is great academically, but if you are looking for pro's that are non-academic related, then I'd have to say that it's a great school if you like to play Halo or Dungeons and Dragons or some type of video game, because it seems that's the only thing most of the kids here do when they aren't studying. My final advice: If you are thinking about attending this school, don't think twice....think maybe 15 times before you decide to. This school is only for those who are very serious about their studies and that is the only thing they care to do. If I was like that, then I would love this school, but that's not me. If you are already in this school and are not enjoying yourself like myself, then get out quick. We can organize a mass exodus.

Question
Georgia Tech is a hard school no doubt,Computer Science
Georgia Tech is a hard school no doubt, but I miss it dearly. I literally waltzed through my first year of graduate school due to the amazing preparation GT gave me. The program I chose to attend had undergrads from many reputable schools, but the other GT grads and I had an easy time for sure.

I was rather involved on campus, partied like a crazy child, and still got good grades. I did sacrifice a lot of sleep along the way, but hey, I got in the number one PhD program for my field in the world. And then, I turned it down. What does that mean?

It means it prepared me beyond my expectations, but Georgia Tech did burn me out. Don't be afraid to take an extra year to graduate if you can afford it -- my quarters with 12 hours or less were the best of my life, and I wished I had taken it a little slower!

I have my dream job now, I own a house in California. I don't think I would have achieved either had I gone elsewhere!
