Coming from someone who is finishing thier firstQuite BrightUndecided
Coming from someone who is finishing thier first semester, I got so much crap about how hard this was going to be and everything before I came here. For the most part, it hasn't been anywhere near as bad as I expected. There is definitely room for that to change but, it looks like, if you just do what's expected things will turn out pretty well. Actually going to all my classes has gotten me tons of extra credit in nearly all of them (or at least the professors know me, and when they know you, they tend to like you more and want to help you more) so that is a good tip.

Question
When you come to Tech you are makingQuite BrightMechanical Engineering
When you come to Tech you are making a big gamble. You are betting that even though you work your ass off and get a sub-par GPA that when you graduate companies will see "georgia tech" on your resume and realize how smart you are.

Another thing about tech is that everyone is the same...there is no variety. Everyone has the same nerdy sense of humor. Just come on campus and listen to how many people are joking about physics! The only good thing about tech is all the clubs. we have over 300 organisations. And don't be fooled by the FASET scam (freshman orientation) tech is not a hip, happening place.

Question
DON'T COME HERE!!!!AverageElectrical Engineering
DON'T COME HERE!!!!
This school sucks, unless you like to stare at numbers day and night instead of going out DON'T COME HERE! If you do come here I hope you like computer games, because thats all that goes on around here. You'll here people saying what a great school this is and how much you'll get paid. This is BULLS**T it's so hard to even interview now. I can't stress enough DON"T COME HERE!! Don't listen to what your parents or whoever is pressuring you to come here, trust me. If you have to find out for yourself come here and spend a few days, but NOT on a tech orientation program, stay with a student and you'll see what I mean. Oh, despite what everyone tells you, it gets harder and not easier as you go up, you'll reach that breaking point after a few years too, when the work seems monotonous, and you'll find that nothing is remotely interesting about your major, and engineering is nothing but doing hundreds of complex math equations, so you can forget about building cool stuff or solving real world problems, it doesn't happen, everything here is theoretical just about nothing is hands on, and computer science classes will drive you crazy. TRUST ME. They will accept you if you apply, they let everyone in and then try to fail you out with computer science classes.
