I love Oakton, and I don't know whyQuite BrightPsychology
I love Oakton, and I don't know why anyone wouldn't. Maybe it depends on the campus you go to. I went to the Skokie Campus, and I loved every teacher I had. Teachers don't really give homework. There are papers of course and things like that but there is absolutely no busy work. I learned a lot in every class. As far as extra curricular stuff goes I don't know what to tell you, but it isn't like anyone goes to Oakton to be in the spotlight. All in all, its an amazing school with really nice people and staff. I would recommend it to anyone who really wants to go to school and not to people who just go to go. (I really don't like people who don't apply themselves and blame the teachers when they get bad grades.) OCC, is amazing and if it were a four year I would without hesitation be there.

Question
Please heed my warning.Super BrilliantUndecided
Please heed my warning. Oakton sucks! Please believe. If you are interested in excelling in college, DO NOT GO TO OAKTON! Do not believe the losers who praised this school. Extracurricular activity is non-existent, students are like the undead, education quality is abysmal. Short story, Oakton IS another highschool!

Consider the following reasons for going to Oakton:

1. You do not know which university is right.
2. You have not picked a major.
3. You come from a working class family and as such either hold financial aspects at utmost importance or can not even afford school.

4. You were unable to get into colleges.
5. You are not ready for college.
Reasons 1 & 2 for going to OCC are pointless seeing as the transfer program is abysmal. Reason 3 is noble, but if you value the money that you have so much, why blow it on Oakton's poor curriculum? If you think OCC is your only option, then you have never heard of financial aid and need to be reeducated. Nowadays, the government provides financial aid at various levels, not to mention the various scholarships and affirmative action and whatnot. Sure college is expensive, but you might as well spend a fortune for a quality education rather than save big for a s**tty education at OCC. Anyone who wants to go to college but can not afford it should take out student loans rather than waste money on Oakton. First off, if you were unable to get into college, you can be pessimistic like I was when I thought I was an idiot or I did not work for anything and I f-ed up, but most likely my standards were too high or I did not send out enough applications. Basically, you can almost always find a proper 4-yr university no matter how low your GPA or ACT/SAT scores are. If not, then you are screwed! In either case, Oakton's program is so lousy, improving your GPA significantly is a cardinal improbability. Finally, if you are not ready for college, remembar that you do not have to go away to school! You could live at home and commute to a real university in Chicago or the burbs.Basically, Oakton is another highschool, the full name should not be OCC. It should be Oakton Highschool II (OSHII or OHS2)!

I came to oakton as a early high school grad, because i moved to niles and instead of transferring to niles west i decided to start up college. it was a great mistake on my part, because i have received the worst possible education yet. my calculus 1 teacher is arrogant, puts off matierial and then doesn't get around to teaching it, comes to class late and unprepared, and seems as he doesn't understand the matierial. i'm dissapointed in the qaulity of the education at oakton and I can't wait to get out of here.
