The writing is on the wall.
When I came to the UMBC in 2005, I knew what I was getting into. This school doesn't joke, around classes are tough and the professors are quite intelligent.

When you talk UMBC you inevitably talk College Park as well. As the flagship of the Maryland State, College Park gets a lot more recognition than UMBC, but that picture will inevitably change. The UMBC certainly deserves the up and coming title and I will tell you why: there a lot of really smart people at UMBC and every year it's getting even smarter.

Right now, undergrads (at least from Engineering) are benefited with a large array of job providers. The career fair in the UMBC is starting to attract top companies and I know of many people who ended up working for Exon, P&G, Merck, Pfizer, Medimmune and many others. These are not companies to sniff at, but rather some of the best this country has to offer.

There is absolutely no question that UMBC is on a roll here. They are building a MASSIVE arts building right now in the middle of worst financial crisis of our generation and student enrollment is increasing every year. Plus, I know the GPA+SAT requirements have been steadily going up and UMBC will be a tough school to get into 5-10 years down the road. 20 years from now make no mistake, the UMBC will on par with many other great schools.
