I had a very undesirable experience at St. Josephs College of nursing. In fact many of the students were afraid to approach faculty in fear of being "the target student".If you go here keep your mouth shut, dont ask questions and plan on getting belittled.

2nd Year Female -- Class 2000

The workload is much more intense then that of a typical college. They don't offer much in the way of tutoring services.A student was recently dismissed from the program for failing a class, and failing a test the first test in one of her classes,despite the fact that she was performing well otherwise in other studies. It has only been a month into the program, not even a semester and she wasen't even given a refund. They also give you Math tests throughout the year for Pharmacology. The 1st year you are expected to achieve a 90% or better.If not you are given 3 tries and if not successful on your 3rd try, you are subject to dismissal. During your 2nd year you are expected to receive 100s. For competencies(skills showing you can perform skills such as vital signs) you are given 3 tries. If you aren't sucessful on your 3rd attempt you can be dismissed from the program.In otherwords you can be kicked out at any time. Many of the questions for tests in your classes will be trick questions. If you perform poorly on a test you are not given chances for retakes or to have your lowest grade dropped.You may only be given 4 or sometimes only 2 tests, and anything below a 75 here is considered failing. They faculty told us a few weeks ago after sending us a notice months ago stating we'd have the day before Thanksgiving off that they changed it so we'd have clinicals from 7am-3pm, causing a huge inconvience to other people's plans. Second year students have claimed that you have no time for: signifigant others, friends, family, work, or freetime during your 2nd year. The campus itself is not located in the best section of Syracuse.As for student life, it's pretty much non-existant here. Students here are always watching reruns of Full House and Roseanne, simply because there is nothing else to do. In other words don't apply here, seek other options.A full time student last year had to be treated for an ulcer from the stress. They will make your life a living hell.
