This school gives everyone a fair chance in the field. Only people who were lazy did not like the school, and expected them to do everything for them. Hussian teaches you how to fish, not hand you a fish. Its great and a lot of fun.

At the time,as an 18 year old, I was accepted into Temple's Tylers school of Art. It was hard to get into. I had great HS grades and an impressive portfolio. I had to pass 2 interviews to get in. But I struggled with the liberal arts program there and decided to tranfer to HSOA. At the time I thought it was a good choice for me. Now at 40,I wished I stayed on my origianl path at Tyler school of Art. I am missing the BA degree which could have opened more doors. I could have had taken different diections with a degree, such as teaching. No credits are transferable from HSOA. I would have paid close to the same money at Temple and now am considering going back to school after I put my own kids though college.
I enjoyed my senior year at Hussian with my friends, but I left with a weak portfolio. I was lucky to know someone in my field to get an intial job but was un able to get any other job without that degree. And was stuck as someone's helper for 2 years. Not qualified to do much else.
I regret making an immature decision not to work hard and get my BA. Hussian was an easy way to stay in my field without the work. I paid for it in the end. I am not saying I didnt learn anything while there just not enough.
Choose carefully.
BTW I can see HSOA is in trouble.....Not a good sign to see your alma mater advertising in the food court at the mall. Made me feel cheap.

This school is run by dinosaurs, Ron dove ( the head of the school) is often sleeping in his office. Crawford is usually all pilled up due to his back problems. No lie, there are dogs that roam free in the school. Rarely you will find a teacher that will inspire you. Bruce McClusky( and his many chins), who runs the school when Ol'Ronnie isnt taking a cat nap is a pompous self absorbed trash talking wanna be. In the years I was there he NEVER brought in his portfolio, sure he had "stories" of his real world expertise and his many awards, but I havent seen one drawing or doodle from him. Most of the faculty don't care and its obvious that its just a check in the
mail. I will list the teachers that are inspiring, and dont worry it isnt a long list. Dave Stencler, Jim Taylor Scott Kirshner, Chuck Dillon and Glen Calhoun.
Hussian will accept anyone as long as they get paid.
Well folks, Lets get to the business at hand.
Hussian was the biggest dissapointment in my life, my degree doesnt mean squat when trying to get a job in the design field. The degree isnt worth that paper its printed on. This school needs an enema, Get rid of them old bones and get some new blood in that school. Get rid of ron dove, crawford, and especially Bruce "double bubble" McClusky. He feeds on making people feel shitty. This is more of a highschool than anything else, anyone that takes this school seriously is delusional. There IS a reason everyone spends so much time outfront smoking, because they need to clear their head from the bull that fills your head.
If you are thinking about going to hussian please think twice or more because the degree is worthless, It looks all pretty inside the building,but dont judge a book by its cover, this is a way for students of hussian can get a degree, work for a few years and when money is tight they pull you back in and you can teach a few classes.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW * and what they wont tell you
*you cannot transfer to another school.
*Yes its a four year school, but its actually just a drawn out 2 year school. look at the degree!
* They say that they will help you find jobs, although I have yet to get any insider help from the teachers except for lynn, she is the most genuine and nice person there.
