I'm a Marywood msw student. I chose Marywood because a lot of people warned me against the Binghamton university social work program. I'm so sorry now. If you can imagine social workers who advocate American wars and aggression and who have no concept of racial oppression in America, this is the school for you. However if you are anti violence and have empathy for human suffering as you would think social workers would, look elsewhere. The caliber of students is astonishingly low. I would transfer if I didn't mean setting myself back for a year. I have fights about social injustice issues with students all the time. Sometimes I can't tell if I'm in a professional social work program or a redneck republican fundraiser.
Question
I like the program I am in. The building is a new one so its nice to work in it. I like the professors that are helping me and I like the other students I work with. Campus is beautiful. Social life is great, I love Kildares which is a local bar, its nice. So is the bars in Scranton. Meet lots of people and its fun. There is a club nearby and they have special guest celebrities which is awesome. Love this place, couldn't have chosen any better.
