If you do not live on campus they could care less about you . They have you collect student learning points which is the stupidest thing you have to pay todo activities with the school to only 15 or 13 people can go... The school is easily made up of 600 people!

The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College... what a big joke. The faculty does an EXCELLENT job of selling this school to you, they make you think that you are a prized possession to belong to this school, but as soon as you sign off and pay then the ten tons of money they could care less what happens to you. Prior to moving in they laid out red carpets and moved our stuff into the dorm for us, and decided they deserved some type of bragging credits for doing so, but they fail to realize that we had to pay $250.00 for that days activities. I could have been capable of moving my belongings into my dorm myself without paying someone to put other peoples belongings in my room, and basically just throwing my stuff on the floor all scrambled in a giant mess. Now that we have gotten through move in day, classes begin. Production class begins at 6am and ends at 11. Throughout production we act as migrate workers working for FREE for this schools pastry shop. We do not learn anything, unless we mess something up and get further instruction, instead we are handed a list of tasks to finish, none of which we can keep or eat, they are all sent to be SOLD in the pastry shop. I dont know about you but i dont pay someone to work for them. This school is so unsanitary itas not even funny. Students come into class, and dont even touch the hand sink first, instead they begin working right away, first mistake, second mistake is that everything that is baked off is touched by multiply students throughout the day WITHOUT gloves, which is illegal. Students have facial piercings, and long fingernails which probably have feces and other fungi buried under them. At any moment in time a student may lose their nose ring, ear ring, necklace, you name in and it could end up in the food. Prior to attending this school i went to a technical school that is the first duel certified ACF program in the nation.. FOR FREE, where i was taught the proper way, and gathered more knowledge then i did the first two terms at this school. This school accepts anyone with a heart beat, therefore you can imagine the student life, all the students smoke cigarettes, drink, and have no good attitudes, and no sense of urgency or responsibility. The only activities to do on campus that arent lame, and dont require money, are going to the gym and working out. Not to mention their gym has no dumbbells, no weights of any kind, no bench to lift, nothing just simply exercise balls, 2 treadmills, and elliptical. The teachers at this school are arrogant, know-it-alls, that only care about making a profit for their school. At the end of class everything we made gets thrown away, we arent allowed to keep anything, or leave class with food, which is only teaching us that its FINE to waste food and money. This school is just ridiculous, i could go on all day, but id rather not waste anymore of my time dealing with this place, which is why at the end of this term i will be transferring to YTI for pastry arts. You can read this and decide for yourself, but just know if you come here, you will waste your time and money.

I came to this school with the dillusion many others have after touring. The administration makes it seem like they are so interested in your success and that they are very open and accessilbe. In reality, as soon as the school recieves your money they could not care less what problems you are having. The financial aid office is a complete joke. If you can evven get a hold of them, they will give you the bare minimum answer (if any at all) and try rush you away as soon as possible. it was almost the end of my first semester here when i finally recieved my loan overage check from them (after monthes of constant calling, emails and in office visits). However, there are many teachers here who share their passion for the Culiniary Arts with their students. Unfortunately, that passion stops with the chefs. None of the other teachers seem to care about their job or whether the students do well. Many of the teachers are also extremely unproffesional and gossip to students about other students. Generally this school has the air of a bad high school. I am simply here now to finish my associates in a short span of time and be done with it.
