Tusculum College

I did NOT attend the main campus in Greeneville, TN. I was a non-traditional student that attended one of the off-campus sites. Don't waste your time or your money! TC is a for-profit college! I was NOT challenged, nor did I receive a quality education that merited charging me over $30,000 for 2.5 yrs. of coursework which, by the way, was instructed by less than average "professors!" The "helpful staff" is far too busy counting money and throwing their weight around to offer a quality/real college experience. There are MANY, MANY problems with this school and its programs of study. I find it hard to believe they have managed to keep their accreditation with the state after the experiences that others and I have had. The BA in Organizational Mgmt isn't worth the paper it's printed upon and will NOT help you advance in/find a job! I know 4 people that can attest to that! Also, the BAED they offer will not help you to become gainfully employed in the public/private education sector due to the fact their "education program" is a big fat joke! When a principal looks you in the eyes and tells you they'd consider you for a job if you'd graduated from any other college, there's a problem!

I easily attained and maintained a 3.9 + GPA, yet I was not recognized for my efforts because I was a non-traditional student. Therefore, my transcripts do not and will not state "President's/Dean's List." Crap, I say! However, I did graduate with cords, and they announced my honors status when my name was called during the ceremony. What I did not understand, however, was why one of the keynote speakers at graduation was a member of my cohort who had barely attained/maintained a 3.5 GPA. Aren't keynote speakers at graduation ceremonies usually the valedictorian and salutatorian? I felt the person with the highest GPA; which was not me, was robbed!

TC will accept any warm body that is willing to write a check or go in debt for a degree. The following examples will support my theory: My class representative couldn't speak without ending sentences with prepositions. She couldn't comprehend the concept of subject-verb agreement. I, as well as others, heard her use the phrase, "I knowed it." . . . more than once! Can you believe that?! She graduated and will be a licensed teacher . . . at least when she manages to pass the state mandated PRAXIS II exams! The bottom line: I am ashamed to even be affiliated with the "institution."

4th Year Female -- Class 2009

Campus Maintenance: C-, Education Quality: F

I was really looking forward to going here, smaller campus, smaller student body, etc. First, my so-called advisor put me in all level 3 classes my first semester, classes that needed level 1 and 2 work done first. They didn't realize this until the end of semester 2, when I was failing. I asked them do I get a refund since it was their mistake and I was told of course "No." The work was mostly busy work and not pertinent to what I was majoring in. When I seriously needed my advisor to change some things, she was on an extended cruise and nobody else would help me. I didn't get reimbursed for this time either. She never did figure out who I was and consistently called me by a girl's name, even though I'm 6 feet tall with a beard. The dorms are a joke. They aren't monitored like they are at regular college. Many many many nights my girlfriend would try and go back to her room and her roommate would be half naked with an overnight "guest." It's really anything goes, which is quite a let down for a lot of students who chose this school to get away from the "party schools." Basically once you've paid your fees, they are done with you. It's sink or swim and don't bother us again.
