Tusculum College

This college is one of the most positive places I have ever experienced. Every time I call or need help, there is always somebody who jumps through hoops to do everything they can to help me. I heard a few bad reviews but none of it was true. There are always students who dont do their part in the classroom, which leads to bad grades. Those students usually lash out at the Professors or the school itself....and I'm pretty sure that's what happened here. Tusculum is a great school and I am honored to attend.

Like any college TC has its issues with faculty and courses but it also has quite a few high points...It has a gorgeous campus and really great professors for the most part..I graduated a couple of years ago and I can honestly say that it was overall a positive experience...I loved the lock schedule and I adored my roommates and the housing is great...the tuition is kinda high but if you work hard and keep your GPA up you can get all kinds of scholarships..You have to work at it like any school you cant just go sit on your butt...In other words if you work TC will work.

Campus Aesthetics: A+, Faculty Accessibility: F

First, note there are very few reviews so far (two counting mine) on this college. One critical review is insufficient data to assassinate or praise this college. It is simply unfair. This is the reason I wrote this review. I have attended fourteen colleges, graduated from four, am older, wiser, well-educated, and world-experienced to write the review. Tusculum is one of the best of the fourteen colleges I attended. For those looking for statistics, go to the Tusculum Library, pull out research papers. There is one written by me, which addresses the value of one of their degree programs. Almost without exception, the surveyed graduates of this Tusculum program indicated they received a promotion, salary increase, or benefit from their Tusculum degree. My recommendation to any student, high school or returning adult, you get what work for. I'm sorry, but my observation is many of today's students (young and older) simply do not want to work, but want that piece of paper handed to them. Which are you? For serious learners, Tusculum offers one specific advantage over many colleges: the concept of taking one class at a time. You take one class, solely concentrate on it, perhaps one term paper, one or two exams. You have no juggling acts between five other classes. You focus on a singular class. In most cases you will learn more this way. Statistics indicate you probably will have a substantially higher grade point average because of this. Tusculum also uses a large number of real world experienced professors. That is, they are not just book-learned and knowledgable, but superb experts in the fields they teach. They have had actual, lengthy, job experience in their teaching areas; something a lot of traditional college professors do not have. Taking one class at a time, back-to-back, gets you through a year fairly fast. It can be the best education you can get, only if you dedicate working on learning. Worthless if you don't work. In most subject areas this concept is excellent. On the flip side, learning a language, probability and statistics, or difficult mathematics class in a shortened term is tough challenge, but very do-able. It can be done with quality learning only if you are a serious student. This is the oldest college in Tennessee, one of the oldest in the country. They must have done something to be still here. The campus is beautiful, old buildings well kept up, mixed with modern new buildings. The spread of old oak and other trees amidst a groomed campus always provides me with inspiration and a positive attitude every time I visit there. It's not a large college, and you will find because of this, most professors do care about you, the school, and success. They won't care an iota, if you don't do your part, because your poor performance will reflect on all of us alumnus. I've attended big colleges, Florida State University, University of South Dakota, and on and on. This is a great school. Don't go here if you aren't serious, because poor students hurt the school, me, and other graduates. You earn what you get.
