I went to this school as a lastQuite BrightPsychology
I went to this school as a last minute decision. The price was right, the dorms were great, and I thought that I would save a couple bucks and transfer somewhere down the line. Knowing what I know now, I wish I would have gone somewhere, anywhere else.

The department:
For starters UTC makes it nearly impossible to get all of the classes that you need. I came in with a significant amount of college credit, and did not need a lot of GenED. They do registration based on Seniority. However since I was still considered a "freshman", although I had enough hours to be considered a sophomore and needed to take upper level classes. But by the time the Seniors, Juniors, Sophomores, Athletes, Honors Students, Band members, and whoever UTC feels like giving early registration, got to register all the classes I wanted were full. So I was forced to take all nigh classes. Some of the professors are great...Others begin their lecture with "I don't care what you people think about me, I have tenure." Good luck rolling the dice with that one.

The University:

Like I said earlier, it really is a beautiful campus. The dorms are nice, and the new library looks great. Safety wise, I do NOT feel safe walking around at night. The only real safety system that UTC offers is the blue light system. Which basically is this system of blue lights on random corners which have a direct line to the police. This is a great concept in theory however, the few lights they have are within 20 feet of a building. So say someone's following me on the way back from class, I would have to walk all the way to my dorm to get to the nearest blue light. Parking is a mess, but it is not as bad as I've seen at other schools.

Socially:
This is my biggest problem with UTC. The majority of people I have met on campus live within 30 min of UTC. With that being said if you aren't from Chattanooga, in a sorority/fraternity, or playing some kind of sport don't plan on fitting in here.

Other: If you have any problems, do NOT expect the University to help you. This is very much a "you are just a number school". We had issues in my dorm with a extremely bad roommate. (She was on drugs, and brought strange guys back to the room every night.) The university would not move her even with evidence of drugs and alcohol present, and they would not let us out of housing for the next semester. The whole situation was handled very poorly.
