The University of Tennessee - Chattanooga

UT Chattanooga is not an awful school as some reviewers have stated...nor is it outstanding.
The city of Chattanooga is beautiful, and the scenery is very aesthetically pleasing. The school is nicely put together, but a tad bit small.

Many of the undergraduate classes are indeed pointless, and many of them did not transfer to the next college I attended. If you aren't thinking of continuing your undergrad education at Chatt, then make sure you only take the classes that will transfer.

In my experience, the staff is VERY friendly and approachable. However, there are those arrogant teachers (mostly in the history department I noticed) that appear to have their heads to far up their you know what. still, even those teachers are willing to help you.

I find it atrocious that the school teaches two different types of remedial math courses. these courses take away money, and at least one of them should be done away with. Many people in these courses honestly do not belong there, especially when it's averaged that over 85 percent of them pass with a C or better.

Classes are VERY easy. Some may be a little more challenging, but all you need to do is actually sit down and study. It's not like highschool. You can't cram an hour before on a whole semester of material and expect to get even a B.

There really isn't a great nightlife here. I mean, there are a few bars and such but they're very lame. I've found that just walking around the city at night with the friends I made was more fun than any bar or club

The campus is safe, and one could walk around campus at 2 in the morning and not worry about a thing.

As someone said in a previous review, there are maybe only five or six ACTIVE clubs. I know, it's sad. Every now and then, student government will set something up. However, there still isn't much spirit involved.

I had an okay social life. You actually have to make an effort to get out there and meet people, but I will admit it is lacking. Chatt is a BIG commuter school, and a lot of people don't live on campus believe it or not.

The best thing about the school is the dorms hands down. Aside from lockmiller (which I had the displeasure of living in freshman year) they are all REALLY nice and accommodating. You get your own room, which helps with privacy.

All in all, UTC is an okay school. I would give it a six out of ten. I still ended up transferring to MTSU, and I absolutely love it here.My one piece of advice for anyone considering this school is to actually visit it at least twice, ignore what the website says about the school, and make a decision for yourself. This school is a suitable 'back up choice' if you aren't able to get into your dream school.

My main reason for coming to this school was to get away for the close minded small town that I had lived in a little bit outside of Memphis. Another reason was so that I would be able to gain a sense of independence that I would have never have been able to get while living at home with my parents and attending the University of Memphis.

I came to visit Chattanooga a few times before officially deciding on the school, and I have to say that I was very pleased with the city and surrounding area. It was bustling, and there seemed as if there was always something to do. Mind you, I visited during the summer time.

I wish I had spent more time on evaluating this school, now that I think about it.
Although the city is nice, it's kind of a trick. The most there is to do is to eat out and visit coolidge park. The Nightlife has something to be desired.

Now to the School. UTC does not have enough clubs or organizations and You hear about activities long after they have happened. If you are looking for a "College" experience, this college may not be for you. Mostly everything is geared towards the few sororities and fraternities on campus, or pointless projects (do we really need a lazy river) It's gotten worse in the three years that I have been here. There are less and less school related activities to do. Apparently, there was a record number of freshmen entering this past fall semester. It is estimated that 75% of them have transferred out to other colleges now that it is the spring semester.

The good thing about this school are the living accomodations. They are apartment style, and you have your own room, kitchen, and bathroom shared with three other people. They are nice sized, and there is bound to be at least one person you have somewhat of a connection with one of those three.

As someone stated earlier, you take MANY MANY pointless classes that would never transfer into other colleges. The undergrad classes are not very difficult, and neither are some grad classes. You just have to study and learn how to manage your time. If I could go back, I probably would not chose to attend this college and would have either gone to MTSU or stayed and went to UofM. Nothing overly memorable has happened here, and there is not very much excitement.

I would STRONGLY Advise anyone to seriously consider other schools before coming here.The people here are very friendly as well as the staff, but to me, it just was not worth coming here.

The campus is a clean campus. although we have a dry campus people find ways to get some alcohol in the dorms. we haven't had any major accidents or mishaps around the campus so that's pretty good. utc does can offer u a quality education. overall the school's okay.
