PHC definitely isn't for everyone, but it's been great for me. Academics can be a little intense, but if you're disciplined about them you can still have a social life. If you aren't, though, either your grades will suffer or you'll have to hermit in your room to get everything done.

Being in the DC metro area is great, but there's not a ton to do in Purcellville itself.
The professors genuinely care about you and want to help you succeed.
If you want to be pushed to grow, PHC is a fabulous place, but I've seen some people who weren't ready for this level of academics really struggle. This isn't typical college-level work.Placement in political internships/jobs is second to none if you're a conservative. If you're interested in law school, there's probably no better place.

4th Year Male -- Class 2018

Education Quality: A+, Social Life: B

For a Christian prelaw education, there's really no better place. Dr. Guliuzza will invest a ton of time and effort into you, and I was accepted by 7 out of the 7 T14 law schools where I applied. (PHC has had grads attend all of the T14 schools at some point.)

Socially, you have to make an effort to have a life outside of studying, because we take school pretty seriously in ways that other Christian schools don't. (Of course, everybody says they have rigorous academics, but I think PHC's results show the difference between us and other Christian schools.) If you make that effort to get out of your room or the library and have fun from time to time, you can definitely enjoy your time at PHC. There are definitely rules, but the administration is willing to listen to you if you've got a better proposal (not saying that they'll do it, but they won't just randomly punish you for advocating for a different way of doing things). We do have rules -- it would be kinda problematic if we didn't -- but nothing like the stifling environment of a place like BJU or PCC or something like that.
