The Art Institute of Seattle

I am speaking from the animation/GAD DO NOT I REPEAT, GO TO THIS SCHOOL FOR THIS EITHER OF THESE PROGRAMS IF YOU TRULY LOVE ART GO TO A NORMAL FINE ARTS SCHOOL OR TEACH YOURSELF. These programs are a huge waste and the current program director is awful, they will tell you the program has a variety in its curriculum, thats false the doucher Jack Snowden has turned the entire program into maya and 3D software unless you love that avoid this school. I spoke with a woman who hired illustrators for pixar down in LA and she felt bad i had invested in the school and told me when she reviewed possible applicants, that if they got an applicant who graduated from any of the A.I. schools that they generally threw it out because the school focuses on the wrong curriculum which is that they dont teach the fundamentals. seriously if you love art find another school or self teach many industry pros never even graduated from a bullshit art school.

Read this before signing any paper at the Ais. If you are self motivated and are thriving to learning then don't go to the Art Institute of Seattle. I am speaking for the department of Media Arts and Animation, only. I am a 3D modeler who unfortunately spend 15,000 dollars in my "education" there. The teachers don't know even know what "NURBS" stand for. In addition, everyone is treated like in high school. I transfer with an AA degree but was worthless to their educational "standard". All they care about its your money. The computers suck! Most of the teachers don't even have a background in education nor understand the software that are teaching. ITs like if they are suck stuck in time and still think that maya 6.0 kicks ass. The books are expensive, like any where else, but here (at the Ais) besides been mandatory you (I) end up using the book twice. For what? So they can buy it back for 3/4 of its original price (still brand new). Honestly,and please, please, if you know your stuff (yes you, the one reading) like modeling, lightning, compositing, animation...will be better off by looking somewhere else. It doesn't matter if it takes a year off of your life as long as you continue doing what you love doing...but for sure you won't waste a year of your life and 15,000 dollars in what seems to a great place but its a piece of shit! Yes! a worthless piece of crappy school. There are great teachers there (VERY FEW)who are well educated but unfortunately are sinking themselves by been there. So...in conclusion of why you should not go there:

1)you are smart
2)You know your stuff
3)you don't like to waste money
4)you don't like loans
Fact)Not everything its bad: I was able to meet two great persons there, to whom I still have communication.

Besides that : Fuck all of the Media Arts and Animation Department(exclude the students).
