I read StudentsReview when I was a senior in high school trying to find out more about TAMU, but honestly nothing you can read will be able to accurately describe the experience. Its definitely different here, and to me the good outweighs the bad. You just have to visit. I had a friend that I stayed with for a couple days during classes and it told me all I needed to know.

My family has shadows of old Ags so I was kind of raised with the hopes of going to school here even though I didn't know much about it. Upon realizing how well known their science and engineering programs are, it remained at my top choice through high school. Many of my older friends from high school also went here, so it almost seemed like a no brainer. Unfortunately, I did not visit many other campuses, mainly due to the fact that my major (Meteorology) was not offered at UT or any other school I would consider in-state. (Texas Tech has a program kind of, but that was seriously the last ditch option. I would have rather gone to community college than Tech…personal opinions I won't share here…) Out of state cost too much, so Texas A&M it was.

If you like to get involved, this place will suit you fine. Despite our dissapointing seasons, football games are almost a requirement, but even for those you don't care so much for it should check it out. Its great to see at least once in your life. Our basketball team is kick ass and the games are awesome.

If you're conservative, this is your little slice of heaven. If you aren't, don't worry about it, even though the general pop. is right-wing, there are surprisingly large numbers of liberal students. Besides, get a few drinks in most conservative Aggies and they lighten up.

The Corps does some weird stuff, but you get used to it after a while. There are way more frat guys and sorority girls here than I would have thought. Students tend to dress the same, so thats annoying.Sometimes I think the people here get annoying and too "red-ass" as they call spirited here. Saying howdy is also slightly annoying now, although I loved it at first. People as a whole are nice and accepting. Its just a matter of if you REALLY want to be friends with some of these people; they occasionally give off that vibe of mindless conformity.

Overall, a great place to go to school. Just adopt the old philosophy of work hard, play hard and you'll thrive here.
